Armenia - 10 Sangrantes Piezas Metamorficas CDr (Ruido Horrible- Mexico)

Armenia, the project (unlike the country), has steadily been releasing noisy vinyl, tapes and CDs ever since half of the 90s, and from what I can tell, Sabatto (the guy who is Armenia, yes) has been doing a pretty good job of it, having released through labels such as Dada Drumming, Turgid Animal and R.O.N.F., and having released splits with the likes of Stimbox, Emil Beaulieau and Pedestrian Deposit, besides running his own esteemed label Bizarre Audio Arts. 10 Sangrantes Piezas Metamorficas was recorded live in Lumberton, North Carolina, in November 2007, and released that same year through the quality label Ruido Horrible, who have released some quality material from quality artists in quality packaging.So how about this one? 10 Sangrantes, as the title would have you believe, features ten short cuts (seven of 2:49 and three slightly longer ones), which sometimes fade in and out and sometimes do not, and which sometimes sound pretty fucking brutal and sometimes not, making the whole thing sounds more like a random collection of a near-dozen short lives than a single live gig, but what do I know. Neither does it really matter, since the overall impression this disc leaves is a pretty good one, and that is clearly the most important thing of all.10 Sangrantes wavers between high end harsh noise material on the one hand, and lower end crunchy material on the other. The diversity is interesting, and it makes for an enjoyable ride. The opener kicks in loudly and shrilly: high end screeching crashes by at a violently fast pace, leaving the listener little room to breathe, then eventually and suddenly kicking back, stumbling on confusedly and messedly, only to revert back into the relentless whizzing and whirring as Pieza 2 kicks in. The lower end is left nearly completely untouched here, and some extra crunch would have been enjoyable, but this reviewer wouldn’t dare complain about such an excellent ruckus otherwise.As the disc progresses, Sabatto presents us with some roomier cuts as well, with slightly crunchier textures undercutting some more dynamically rich high end noise, here and there reverbing like a maniac, looping shakily, Sabatto hacking away at the sound stream and leaving it battered and bruised. The dynamics are maintained throughout, and 10 Sangrantes stumbles from one joyride into another, thrashing like hell, getting sick to the stomach, puking all over and feeling pretty good about it, too. The schizophrenic and slightly masochistic experience this disc provides is grand, and as Piezo 8 tears at my bleeding ear drums I imagine I hear the voices of a thousand ghosts, and it’s a good feeling.That is not to say the disc is without fault. Like I said, the noise mostly seems to stick to the higher end of the spectrum, and it doesn’t quite manage to rub you like sand paper; with truly crackling layers of sound being largely absent, the sometimes slightly homogenous sound stream washes over you more like a (very obnoxious, very noisy, yes) bar of soap. And while the sound palette is mostly pretty fucking excellent, silly beeps and blips rub me the wrong way, and I can’t help it; as soon as they make their appearance, my brain tunes out of its own accord. However, these are minor objections, and the silly blips are kept to a minimum.10 Sangrantes is a highly enjoyable, if not slightly anonymous, disc, which is sure to satisfy those who enjoy a good and diverse bit of loud sound. While this disc is by no means unmissable, it is neither yet another (yawn) Sunday afternoon excursion down too well-trodden paths, and while it does neither explore new territory nor break new ground, it’s enough of a change of scenery to keep you happy.

EPIDEMIA + ARMENIA - CONVULSIONES, ESPASMOS Y DOLORES (CD by Diskus Fonografika)The artwork of present album is worth mentioning. Beautifully, the disc has been packed in dvd-sized cool tin-box. The album has been developed from a joint venture between two of Southern America's harsh projects: Epidemia and Armenia. Epidemia is the project by Mexican Chuiy Bitios, a project that has released quite a few works utilizing disjointed beats combined with ambient and noise. Armenia is Leonardo Sabatto from Ecuador also focusing on harsh expressions of electronic sound. In english language, the title of present album means something like "Cramps, pains" and the containment certainly deals with the hurting sounds of sonic noises. Circulating in the territories between drone-based ambient and harsh noise the atmosphere is very tense. There is a great balance between emotional and fragile ambient and over-the-top cynic aggressions often kept in the ultra-distorted worlds of power electronics. Darkcavern tomó como principio el hecho de mantener el sonido básico y trabajar sobre este sin ayuda exterior. Distorsionando, fusionando y sobreponiendo todos los elementos para crear un collage de recursos estilísticos dentro del mismo estilo de Armenia; y crear de esta forma una proyección de sonidos que elaboren una lluvia de truenos sobre plataformas básicas a manera de campos de cosecha victimas de la ira de Júpiter.

He ranged beneath the throne of the almost totally indifferent and supreme being and creator deity, a nameless sky-god whose throne was usually situated on the top of a high mountain. Ai Apaec may have been the son of the mountain god, and shared the feline mouth of the creator deity. He is usually portrayed wearing a jaguar headdress and snake-head earrings.

Armenia y Zvook unen sus perversiones sonoras en esta colaboración recién salida del horno. Una creación que incluye oscilación, sampling, granulización y deconstrucción realizada enteramente a través de la web,"Mirada Bifurcada" es la unión de dos extremos de la historia de la experimentación sonora en latinoamerica, combinando el largo panorama sonoro que demuestra Armenia (L.Sabato) y el acercamiento con una mirada más naive y reciente por parte de Zvook (Sebastián G.)
el resultado: un tema que se eleva, se abre lentamente y llega al ruido entero sin estallar en el harshnoise, con una expresividad muy particular donde se mezclan dos estilos que convergen en la dislocación sonora a través de caminos diferentes.

"1. Nosotros queremos cantar el amor al Peligro el hábito, de la energía y de la temeridad
2. El valor, la audacia, la rebelión serán elementos esenciales de nuestra poesía.
3. Hasta hoy, la literatura exaltó la inmovilidad pensativa, el éxtasis y el sueño. Nosotros queremos exaltar el movimiento agresivo, el insomnio febril, el paso ligero, el salto mortal, la bofetada y el puñetazo.

Lanzamos en Italia este manifiesto de heroica violencia y de incendiarios incentivos, porque queremos librarla de su gangrena de profesores, arqueólogos y cicerones.Italia ha sido durante mucho tiempo el mercado de los chalanes. INDUSTRIA MASOQUISTA / ARMENIA - split -

Industria Masoquista starts things off with a wall of noise that is calked up with various sound takes, hollowing distorted voice and audio snippets. This track is much denser than I would have originally thought, but then converts into paused, short blasts while chopping through for a few minutes or so and resumes to its pervious onslaught of weighty noise. This reminds me of something in vane of Masonna. I haven't received or heard much of Industria Masoquista, but after hearing this, I am looking forward to more of Javier's work. The Armenia side is extremely crunchy and crackles like a truck load of popcorn mistakenly delivered to the citizens of hell. Powerful with a capital "P" and I believe a bit more varied than prior work to date. It's complete with laser like shots though the cosmos and seemingly as if a roller coaster could have theme music... this my friends would be it. [Joe Lombardo]

Starting off with a long track of one my favorite projects ever, Armenia. You will instantly understand why I have been listening to LS's work for over the decade that I have. Harsh as the time I saw a man take a baseball bat to another man's month, smashing his teeth to bits and just as vivid. Ouch, and I mean holy fuck. Is that, that and stuff like that? Painful with the unrelenting force of man at the wheel, commanding your lost soul as if were an ice cream bar, sucking your life way little by little you melt in to nothing, while the noise is caked with gluttonous waves of feedback crashing against the little sanity left in your human fabric, gorging repeatedly on itself only to fester in stench at maximum volume the sound is spewing out large saturated steaming piles of nervousness. Noise for the whole neighborhood, so please play at this demanding volume for such thick audio sludge would be so ever grateful if you could smother the entire block of nards that line your streets with a newly melted air residue that will encase there pathetic lives forever in the mind numbing present. The next three tracks are by Others People's Children, a project that I was lucky to have found up having a few tracks on that myspace thingy. The sound is a bit week on my copy, but if you just crank the volume on this mother, it becomes a little better. An interesting mix of harsh noise, power electronics, and DIE, DIE, DIE as the noise just pummels you like a grinder of flesh and bone. Maybe that is why the volume is a bit off, hell, this might actually fuck you up more than must are willing to admit if it were at a stronger volume. Ruthless as a blind, recently escaped mental patient turned barber asked for a shave and a haircut, ah the joy of hacking away at your throat will bring to the handicap-able. As the second OPC track pours through my speakers with a density that few could match and far more wouldn't even try, the sound continues at this pace for the entire track. This is heavy as fuck, good luck standing after that. Last up is a bit more varied with a sprinkle of crackling higher pitches that mulches away at nearly the same speed, velocity and strength as the last track; this is thick, dense noise for that harsh noise high that brings a smile to your face and a look of confusion to everyone else. Fantastic new release from this prolific Ecuadoran noise artist. The anonymous track listing invites the mind to interact more directly with the music, and the sounds within are obliging. Armenia is a longstanding project from the classic 90's era of harsh noise, putting out blistering releases alongside such greats as Macronympha and Black Leather Jesus. Any new Armenia release is a reason for people within the noise community to pay attention to. Years of work along the noise path leads to interesting and dynamic releases from a thoughtful and imaginative artist such as this. Often there is very pleasant 'soft noise' that has a dreamlike cassette/tape quality to it that is very nice to listen to.However, that is not to say that this is somehow a beautiful record. The cover and back are festooned with an image of a pile of dead bodies, and on the insert panel is an image of a malnourished man attempting to feed himself. The images are Xeroxed in the style of harsh noise and power electronics. The variety of sounds on this release is amazing. Each track has a completely different sound from the proceeding one, despite the generic nature of the titling. The titling of each track as “Pieza” followed by the sequential number gives the entire work a thematic unity that becomes more and more apparent with each listen. There is a very intricate artistry to the sounds that are chosen and they come together to make a very pleasing image. Although the subject matter is grotesque, there are no discernible vocals and the rich tapestry of sound resembles an audio Guernica.A rather brief release at around half of an hour, Armenia packs quite a significant punch in that time period. The doom and gloom crowd tries to frighten you with terrifying vistas of other worlds, Armenia folds back the screen on the already existing slag heap floating through space. Sound of the old world burning heavy gasoline inside the death camp star. Ruido Horrible puts out really great releases that are available very inexpensively in limited numbers, and this is one of their very best releases. If you like harsh noise, you cannot go wrong with this, it is of very high quality, completely ripped and off the cuff, blown out, destroyed. Heavy.

ARMENIA - Dislessico -Cdr (2006)

Re-released in 2006 by Seven Sermones Ad Mourtos in Italy. A new version of the "Limitado en 10 Copias" hand-made limited edition of 10 copies on Bizarre Audio Arts (2004).
Armenia - Limitado en 10 copie, limited 7/10 copies review by JOE LOMBARDOI was super stoked to have received a copy of this. Leo and I do quite a bit of trading and this little gem was in our latest trade. Starting with a nice live sound that uses feedback and a harsh mix of high frequencies and hiss, coupled with some extremely active back ground sounds and other miscellaneous mayhem. This track pierces through your moist audio cavities like a chisel hacking at wood. Smooth with a softness that is quite bearable to the ear but with a deeper confusion that may torture the mind. Still with that said, the track at the ninth minute mark develops a crunching sound under it all. Layered like a master and even a bit harsher than I can recall in prior releases. The sound now seems to buckle under its own weight and the background splits into the foreground causing even more bombastic pleasure. Things shortly after are now a little less saturated in high pitched sounds and are now more of like a symphony of whiles and tweaks. There might even be some type of vocal or audio sound bite, but it is hard to tell... Now at the sixteenth minute, things seem to get even hairier, if that were even possible! More of the same but the volume is escalated and there is a bit of a swirling effect that seems to be introduced as a plethora old school noise cascade thought the speakers into the already agitated air. Some delay and a bit of a slow down give you some false sense of security as the pitch increases and the density thickens. As always, after listening Armenia I can't help be feel that I should get more of Leonardo's stuff. Contact him directly at lsabatto@hotmail.com .

This is one of my favorite releases.
It was released in 2005. My first release in US.
A cool review of the release:
Alright, I had no idea what to expect from this, and I mean no a clue, but let's just say this will pleasantly rip that inner demon hiding in the very depths of your dark soul a new bleeding asshole. Harsh as fuck from the very first second and it only increases in density with high frequencies fused together as if watching stones melt together, this will tear in to you like being gorged by the butt of a lighting struck tree and left wearily standing in the middle of the road waiting for the inevitable. Track one then just fades out. Fuck yeah! Now, that is what I am talking about! Track two begins with a bit of a ambient feel to it only to be blown up with harsh static like that of turning on the radio that someone has left in between stations and at full fucking volume, this will hurt your head as the sound modulates and layers itself rapidly with other abrasive distinct noise making this one of longer pieces an interesting listen throughout the entire track. Next up is an extremely harsh mix of concrete noise in the background and high pitched feedback in the foreground with what at time seems an inpatient driver honking his horn from the beginning to the very end. Annoying as fuck and in a way I wish it was taken out, but it sounds like it has some purpose other than making me fucking crazy! Last up is another longer track in the same vain as the second. Blistering feedback with speed and clever consistency that gnaws at the back of your skull while drying out your wax filled audio corn holes. Not for the weak and not for those who like your noise with a lot of flash. This is simply just going to take you out back and fuck you up. Get yourself some. Los artistas merecen respeto, son personas muy importantes. No todos podemos pensar como ellos, su cultura y educacion es vasta. (?)
No se si pertenezco a un grupo de artistas , o si soy uno, pero en si ... Que es ser artista?

El artista es el que hace las cosas bien,con dedicacion, esmero y con ganas de hacerlo, entonces todos somos artistas de una o de otra forma.

La compilacion NADIE esta dedicada a los individuos que crean/componen/descomponen sonidos, algunos son o se hacen llamar artistas, otros no quieren ser llamados tal.
Todos sus nombres han sido secretamente guardados.
La duracion de la compilacion es un minuto, la razon, evidentemente es el tiempo en el que un artista llega a la cuspide y/o dedica a la elaboracion d esus piezas/composiciones u obras, muchos toman mucho tiempo otros solo un minuto, como dijo Dali, ninguna obra de arte esta terminada, solo abandonada.
